The endless pressure we all face in our day-to-day career paths, to help improve healthcare delivery and patient care, takes a lot of time, and most importantly, an inner passion to make a difference. That passion drives many of us to put in dedicated hours so that the fruits of our labor come to fruition.
Basically, to achieve and sustain all health IT promises, we often devote our own personal time to do what is not possible during our normal business day. That is true dedication, and HIMSS prides itself on our volunteers who do just that.
I remember being a HIMSS chapter board member, using hours on the weekend and holidays to do what I could not accomplish because of work activities during normal hours. But I felt a passion to make a difference, and that drive helped me to create programs and meet new colleagues that otherwise would not have occurred.
Well, we’re proud to announce that over the past few months, HIMSS Professional Development Career Services is providing more and more resources for our members and creating a platform of information as a trusted source for both job seekers and employers. HIMSS is proud to support our diverse membership and support the efforts of our members and their accomplishments. Finally, adding awards and recognitions to a person’s credentials is a valuable component of anyone’s career path
At HIMSS, we recognize members who go above and beyond to support of HIMSS’ mission: “To lead healthcare transformation through the effective use of health information technology.”
The “Spirit of HIMSS Award” recognizes any HIMSS member for his or her recent contributions that support the HIMSS mission to help lead healthcare transformation. This monthly award, executed by HIMSS Professional Development, will acknowledge exemplary and recent contributions from our diverse membership – those members of HIMSS with recent or sustained commitment to HIMSS.
Submit your nomination with the online form; include a resume and recommendation letter (which is encouraged). These nominations, submitted electronically on the website, go to the HIMSS Service Award Selection Committee. The selected award recipient receives a certificate and recognition in a HIMSS publication.
