Live from the HIMSS Virtual Conference: Meaningful Use Phase 1 and Beyond

This morning I was an invited to moderate, “You Expect Me to Do What? Priming Your Staff for Meaningful Use Success.” at the HIMSS Virtual Conference & Expo.

Leah Tew, RN, MBA, Thomas Eye Group Manager, Healthcare Informatics, was scheduled to present.

Unfortunately, Ms. Tew wasn’t able to present because of alarms going off in her office!

I did have the chance to peruse the presentation slides. (In case you didn’t know, all the HIMSS Virtual Conference slides are available to attendees in the “tote bag” option.)

This session will explore:

  • How you can determine areas of staff resistance to meaningful use implementation;
  • How you can adeptly identify each staff member’s ability to contribute to the change process; and
  • How to organize your team for successful meaningful use compliance.

Leah Tew, RN, MBA, highlights the successful ways to identify staff members’ strengths and how to leverage your staff by making them a part of the process and focusing on solutions.

The session provides a valuable “three-legged stool” to advise how you can:

  • Rally the troops
  • Set the strategy
  • Lead the way

I am sorry to have missed the live presentation!

But don’t worry; the wonderful HIMSS staff will be recording the session with Leah Tew, RN, MBA, and making it available on-demand later this month on the HIMSS Virtual Conference Website.

Leah Tew, RN, MBA, will be answering the question at the forefront of our minds:

How can we prepare staff to achieve and embrace meaningful use compliance?
