HIMSS11 in Orlando is only four days away. For those who haven’t been to an Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition before, here are some helpful FAQs to get you ready.
1. How is the HIMSS11 educational program organized?
HIMSS11 education is organized by 22 different topic categories so attendees can easily identify their must-attend sessions. Education sessions by topic category are listed on the HIMSS11 Education webpage (search by topic). HIMSS11 education is also organized by type of session, i.e., Pre-conference, General, Views from the Top, Roundtables and E-Sessions.
2. What is the best way to plan my HIMSS11 agenda?
Education and exhibit hall hours have minimal overlap so you have time to dedicate and focus on both throughout conference. Use MyHIMSS11 to explore the best possible conference activities that match your unique interests. By simply selecting a job role from the options, MyHIMSS11 automatically aggregates a list of education sessions, and product and service categories most relevant to that profession.
2. Where can I get CE information and forms?
Accreditation information is available online or in the HIMSS11 Resource Guide. You can request continuing education credits at any Surf-the-Net stations on-site or at www.himssconference.org/CE. Visit the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine Continuing Education booth in Lobby C for questions regarding CME, CNE and ACPE credit. Please note: attendees will be unable to print a hardcopy of certificates while on-site.
4. If I miss a session, is there a way to obtain the presentation?
HIMSS will not distribute paper copies of annual conference presentations and there will be no printer stations on-site. All HIMSS11 presentations are posted online. Attendees can download or print the presentations to review prior to arriving in Orlando or access presentations via Wi-Fi on-site.
Additionally, HIMSS is offering five different session recording packages for purchase, which are currently available at a discounted, pre-conference rate. HIMSS11 Session Recording Packages are available for General Education, Meaningful Use, Nursing Informatics Symposium, Leading from the Future: A HIMSS Thought Leadership Event on Accountable Care Organizations, and HIT X.0—Beyond the Edge.
5. How do I meet like-minded professionals at HIMSS11?
Attend the many HIMSS11 Networking Events—including HIMSS Special Interest Group Meetings and Chapter Receptions. Also, view the Exhibitor-hosted Events Portal to find hundreds of opportunities to network with company sales executives and other clients. What’s more, attendees can engage with HIMSS and make connections before and during conference through Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and LinkedIn. Visit Social Networking@HIMSS11 to learn more, and start engaging with HIMSS and attendees today.
6. What are the best ways to navigate the convention center?
Attend one of the first-time attendee orientations held on Sunday, Feb. 20, in room 206BC from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, and Monday, Feb. 21, in room 206BC from 10 am to 11 am. Additionally, use the On-Site Navigational System Kiosks located in over 30 areas of the convention center for attendees’ convenience in locating exhibiting companies by name, product or service; education and exhibitor solution sessions; convention center amenities; networking events, Orlando highlights and more. Through a single search, the navigation system locates and displays the best possible route for attendees to find their destinations–just like GPS navigational systems. Additionally, convention center floor and exhibition maps are also included in the HIMSS11 Pocket, Resource and Exhibitor Guides on-site.
