HIMSS YouTube: A New Way to Communicate

Hi, I’m Matt Schlossberg, Manager of Publications at HIMSS. My responsibilities at the Society include editing e-newsletters, white papers, books, Government Health IT magazine and Journal of Healthcare Information Management, HIMSS’ quarterly peer-reviewed periodical. One of my newest ventures at HIMSS is filming, editing and managing our YouTube channel.

The channel has been up for months, but with HIMSS staff now dedicated to filming and posting, we have uploaded more than 70 new videos. This technology is amazing. Using a simple Flip video camera, we can shoot, edit and upload videos in minutes.

It’s a great way to convey information; provide members with updates on events and initiatives; and allow viewers to put a face (or, more accurately, dozens of faces) to HIMSS. Many of my upcoming blog posts will focus on new videos that may be of interest to you.

So without further delay, I encourage you to watch this video from Scott MacLean, MBA, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, a member of the HIMSS Board of Directors.

In this short video, Mr. MacLean explores the ultimate impact of meaningful use on both the health IT industry and the U.S. healthcare system.

Much focus been put on meaningful use and what healthcare organizations need to do to earn incentive payments for successful EHR implementation, so we thought it would be interesting to see what the industry may look like in the post-meaningful use era.
